Microsoft Windows Live Writer
Windows Live Writer has been released and this blog has been written with it. I think I prefer Word 2007 because of the inline spell checker and other more advanced features that I can’t remember at the moment. But for a free blog editor its pretty good!
One of the things that I really do miss is the ability to download older blogs and edit/update them.
Inserting images was simple. I was even able to align the image and the text without editing the HTML.
One other thing I noticed was the Windows Live Map which was pretty cool! Not sure if that option is available in Word 2007. This allows you to insert an map as an image.
Blog from Word 2007
I just installed Office 2007 Beta 2 that I got from my PC Pro magazine.
It has taken me about 3mins to setup the “blog post” bit in word and I found it very simple!
Here is what I had to do:
-
Click on the round funny windows icon thing in the top left hand corner
-
Click new.
-
Select “new blog entry”.
-
A dialog box should pop up. Choose “Other” from the dropdown.
-
Enter user name and password details.
-
Leave the Api as Metaweblog.
-
PostURL is the url of your blog plus xmlrpc.php (for WordPress) so for me it was http://www.zimakki.com/blog/xmlrpc.php
-
Start blogging!
I have not had a look at attaching pics yet coz I need to go and eat!
Word Press LightBox Js Plugin
Found a brilliant Word Press plugin here.
Basically does this kinda thing on pic.
One thing I did have to do to get it to work with the current theme (worked fine with default wordpress theme) is manually copy in the css and javascript links into the head section of the theme.
There must be a better way of doing this… I’ll write a blog once I find out.
